Its aim to highlight the misuse and misappropriation of public expenditure before each house of the parliament. It also recommends action against those public authorities who are found responsible for the misuse of the expenses. It also counterchecks the public expenditure on the basis of the report of comptroller and auditor general the member of opposition of the lok sabha is appointed as the chairman of this committee (since 1967-68).
