1. Andy Murray and Serena Williams win Wimbledon 2016
- Britain’s Andy Murray has won the 2016 Wimbledon title in men’s singles category.
- In final match he defeated Canada’s Milos Raonic by 6–4, 7–6(7–3), 7–6(7–2).
- It was his second Wimbledon title after he had won it for first time in 2013.
- Serena Williams of United States has won 2016 Wimbledon title in women’s singles category.
- In the final she defeated Germany’s Angelique Kerber by 7–5, 6–3 score.
- It is Williams’ seventh Women’s Singles Wimbledon title (2002, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2012and 2015) and overall 22nd Grand Slam title.

- The 2016 Wimbledon Championships was a Grand Slam tennis tournament which took place at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom.
- It commenced on 27 June 2016 and concluded on 10 July 2016.
Men’s Doubles Title:
- French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut won the 2016 Wimbledon titlein the men’s doubles category.
- In the final match they defeated French pair Julien Benneteau and Édouard Roger-Vasselin by 6–4, 7–6(7–1), 6–3 score.
Women’s Doubles :
- US pair of Serena Williams and Venus Williams has won the 2016 Wimbledon title in the women’s doubles category.
- They defeated Tímea Babos (Hungary) and Yaroslava Shvedova (Kazakhstan) pair by 6–3, 6–4 score.
Mixed Doubles Title:
- Henri Kontinen (Finland) and Heather Watson (United Kingdom) pair won the 2016 Wimbledon title in the mixed doubles category.
- They defeated Robert Farah (Colombia) and Anna-Lena Grönefeld (Germany) pair by 7–6(7–5), 6–4 score.
2. Lewis Hamilton wins 4th British Grand Prix of his career
- Formula 1 world champion from Great Britain Lewis Hamilton has won the 2016 British Grand Prix title of Formula 1.
- It his overall 4th British Grand Prix title after winning it in 2008, 2014 and 2015.
- It was his 4th title of the 2016 season after Monaco Grand Prix , Canadian Grand Prixand Austrian Grand Prix.

- British Grand Prix was the tenth race of the 2016 season and was held at the Silverstone Circuit near the village of Silverstone in Northamptonshire in England.
3. Portugal win Euro 2016 football championship
- Portugal lifted the Euro 2016 football championship at Saint-Denis in Paris beatingFrance 1-0.
- Substitute Eder scored in extra-time to give Portugal a win at their first major international title despite losing captain and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to injury.
- He scored the goal with 11 minutes of extra time left to stun France after the host team had dominated the match.
- This was the first ever EURO final to end scoreless at the end of 90 minutes.
- For the first time, the European Championship final tournament was being contested by 24 teams, having been expanded from the 16-team format used since 1996.

5. Tathagata Roy sworn-in as acting Governor of Arunachal Pradesh
- Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy has sworn in as the acting Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
- He becomes 18th Governor to be sworn in as Governor of Tripura.
- He has been given the additional charge of Governor of Arunachal Pradesh during the leave of absence of incumbent Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa.
- Tathagata Roy was born on 14 September 1945 in Kolkata, West Bengal.
6. Sanjay Gupta appointed Konkan Railway CMD
- Sanjay Gupta has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL).
- Earlier, he was working as Director (Operating and Commercial) of KRCL.
- Mr. Gupta, who is from Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME), was working as Director (Operations and Commercial) from September 30, 2013 till his elevation.
- Konkan Railway Corporation is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways and it is headquartered at CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai.

7. Legendary football coach Amal Dutta passes away
- Former Indian professional football coach Amal Dutta (86-year) passed away in hisKolkata residence.
- He was the first professional football coach of the country.
- Amal Dutta played in midfield for East Bengal in the 1950s and also represented India in the 1954 Asian Games at Manila.
- In the early 1960s, he retired from the Indian Railways to become a full-time coach, the first-ever in India.
- In his long coaching career, he was associated with premier football clubs of India and also became coach of India.

- Chairman of R K Swamy Hansa Srinivasan K Swamy would be the recipient of this year’s The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) Lifetime Achievement Award.
- This award is the highest honour to be given to an individual in India for outstanding contribution in the advertising industry.
