PRIYADARSHINI CHATTERJEE CROWNED FBB MISS INDIA WORLD 2016
- Delhi’s Priyadarshini Chatterjee was announced the winner of the FBB Femina Miss India World 2016 at the Femina Miss India beauty pageant in Mumbai.
- She was crowned the title by Aditi Arya former Femina Miss India 2015.
- She will now represent India at the Miss World 2016 pageant.
- The winners were chosen by a panel of judges that included Sanjay Dutt and Sania Mirza among others.
PRIYANKA CHOPRA TO BE HONOURED WITH DADASAHEB PHALKE FILM FOUNDATION AWARD 2016
- Priyanka Chopra to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award for 2016 in best actress of the year category.
- She bagged the award for her performance in the bollywood movie Bajirao Mastani.
- She will be honoured with the best actress award on the 147th birth Anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalke.
- Priyanka Chopra has also been awarded with Padma Shri in 2016.
MOTHER TERESA HONOURED WITH FOUNDERS AWARD POSTHUMOUSLY IN UK
- The Nobel Peace Prize awardee Mother Teresa now has been honoured with the UK’s prestigious Founders Award this year.
- The award is given to recognize and reward exemplary achievements of people within the global Asian community.
- The award is given to recognize and reward exemplary achievement within the global Asian community in categories that include business, philanthropy, entertainment, culture and sport.
HARYANA GOVERNMENT APPOINTED TWO MEMBER INQUIRY PANEL TO PROBE INTO JAT QUOTA STIR
- Haryana government constituted a two member Commission of Inquiry headed by former Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice S N Jha.
- The commission is formed to probe conspiracy behind violent incidents during Jat agitation in February 2016.
- The commission has to submit its report within six months.
- The commission will inquire into facts relating to violence leading to loss of lives, damage to properties during the agitation in Haryana.
FIRE ACCIDENT AT PUTTINGAL TEMPLE IN KERALA 110 PEOPLE DIED
- At least 110 people were charred to death in a fire accident at Puttingal Devi temple during a festival at Paravur in Kollam district of Kerala.
- Nearly 380 persons got injured were admitted to various hospitals.
- The tragedy occurred around 3.30 am during display of fireworks at the temple complex.

KHADIJA ISMAYILOVA TO RECEIVE UNESCO/GUILLERMOCANO WORLD PRESS FREEDOM PRIZE 2016
- Investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova of Azerbaijan was chosen for the UNESCO or Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize 2016.
- The Prize will be awarded during the celebration of World Press Freedom Day on 3 May 2016 in Finland.
- UNESCO /Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize was started to honour a person, organization or institution that has made an outstanding contribution to the defence and promotion of press freedom anywhere in the world.
