1. Prakash Javadekar Inaugurates Smart India Hackathon Grand Finale 2018-Software Edition
i. Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has inaugurated the Smart India Hackathon Grand Finale 2018 -Software edition in New Delhi. He stated that Hackathon aims to build Digital India and to engage the youth directly in nation-building. it is intended to promote innovation, out-of-the-box thinking in young minds.
ii. One lakh students from 1,200 colleges are participating at the world’s largest Hackathon.
2. Madhya Pradesh Has The Highest Number Of Tribal Habitations In The Country
i. Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of 55770 fully covered tribal habitations with the safe drinking water in the country followed by Odisha and Jharkhand.
ii. The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has informed that under the Scheme ‘National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP), 10% of the total allocation of funds is earmarked to be used for the supply of drinking water to Scheduled Tribe (ST) dominated habitations.
3. First National Conclave On Psychological Trauma, Child Protection, And Mental Illnesses In New Delhi
i. With an aim to provide a comprehensive synthesis of research, service provision, and clinical practice in addressing psychological trauma and subsequent mental illnesses in Indian children and adolescents, First, ever National conclave was held in New Delhi by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, in collaboration with the Dept. of Psychiatry.
ii. The Conclave was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Dr. Virendra Kumar.
4. Cabinet Approves MoU Between India And United Kingdom And Northern Ireland
i. The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of MoU between India and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland regarding cooperation and Exchange of Information for the Purposes of Combating International Criminality and Tackling Serious Organised Crime.
ii. India and U.K. already have an agreement concerning the investigation and prosecution of crime and the tracing, restraint, and confiscation of the proceeds and instruments of crime (including crimes involving currency transfers) and terrorist funds, which was signed in 1995.
5. Cabinet Approves MoU Between India And Canada On IPRs
i. The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi has given its ex-post approval for MoU between India and Canada. The MoU was signed to establish bilateral cooperation activities in the field of Intellectual Property (IP). The MoU is intended to promote innovation, creativity and economic growth in both countries.
ii. The MoU establishes a broad and flexible framework through which both countries can exchange best practices and work together on training programs and technical exchanges to raise awareness on IPRs and better protect intellectual property rights (IPRs).
