1. NIC Launches India’s 4th Data Centre in Bhubaneswar

i. Bhubaneswar (capital city of Odisha) becomes the fourth National data centre of National Informatics Centre (NIC) after Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune. 

ii. The new cloud-enabled National Data Centre aims to offer round-the-clock operations with secure hosting for various e-governance applications of Central and State Governments and has the ability to support 35,000 virtual servers.

2. Main Event of 4th International Yoga Day Celebrations To Be Held At Dehradun

i. The main event of 4th International Yoga Day celebrations will be held at Dehradun in Uttrakhand on 21st of June.
ii. Secretary AYUSH Ministry Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha has announced that Dehradun has been selected as the venue for Mass Yoga Demonstration of International Yoga Day. Mr Kotecha is in Dehradun to initiate the preparations regarding this mega event.
3. DAC Approves Procurement of Equipment for Defence Forces
i. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, met in New Delhi and accorded approval for the procurement of equipment for the Defence Forces valued at over Rs. 6900 crore.
ii. The DAC approved procurement of Thermal Imaging (TI) Night Sights for the Rocket Launcher (RL) used by the Army and the Air Force under ‘BUY (Indian) IDDM’ category through established Indian Vendors.

  • Air-chief-Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa is the present Chief in Indian Airforce.
4. India Signs Loan Agreement With World Bank For Rajasthan Project
i. An Agreement for IBRD Credit of USD 21.7 Million from the World Bank for the Strengthening of Public Financial Management in Rajasthan Project was signed in New Delhi. The Project size is approximately USD 31 million, of which USD 21.7 million will be financed by the World Bank, and the remaining amount will be funded out of the State Budget.

ii. The Project duration is 5 years. The Project objective is to contribute to improved Budget execution, enhanced accountability and greater efficiency in Revenue Administration in Rajasthan.

5. Cochin International Airport, World’s 1st Fully Solar Energy-Powered Airport: UNEP
i. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has recognised Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) in Kerala as the world’s first fully solar energy-powered airport. CIAL is India’s first airport to be constructed in public-private-partnership (PPP) model in 1999.
ii. It is the busiest and largest airport in the state of Kerala. The airport has 15 MWp solar power plant near the cargo complex of airport comprising 46,150 solar panels laid across 45 acres.
  • UNEP was founded as result of United Nations Conference on Human Environment in June 1972.
  • It is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
