1. India-Korea Business Summit In New Delhi
i. PM Narendra Modi addressed the 2nd India-Korea Business Summit in New Delhi. The theme of the Summit this year is “India-Korea: Scaling up the Special Strategic Relationship through Trade and Investments”.
ii. The Summit aims to create the framework for an open and action-oriented dialogue between top business leaders and Government officials from both countries. India and Korea are the third and fourth largest economies in Asia. The two way trade between India and South Korea currently stands at nearly 17 billion dollar.
  • South Korea President- Moon Jae-in, Capital- Seoul.
2. Blue-Coloured Baal Aadhaar Card Launched By UIDAI
i. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) introduced a ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card for children below the age of five years. No biometric details will be required to get this blue-coloured Baal Aadhaar card.
ii. A child below 5 years of age gets a blue in coloured Aadhaar known as Baal Aadhaar. When the child becomes 5 years old, a mandatory biometric update is required.

3. Uma Bharti Launches 2nd Project Of Swajal Yojana In Rajasthan
i. Union Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Uma Bharti launched the Swajal pilot project at Village Bhikampura in Rajasthan. Besides ensuring the availability of clean drinking water to every household round the year, the project would also generate employment.
ii. Swajal is a community-owned drinking water programme for sustained drinking water supply. Under the scheme, 90% of the project cost will be taken care by the Government and the remaining 10% of the project cost will be contributed by the community.

4. TV Journalist Rahul Mahajan Named Rajya Sabha TV Editor-In-Chief

ii. Television journalist Rahul Mahajan has been appointed as editor-in-chief of the television channel Rajya Sabha TV. Mahajan’s name was recommended by a five-member selection committee headed by Prasar Bharti chairman A. Surya Prakash and was approved by the vice-president of India M.Venkaiah Naidu.
ii. The committee also included Swapan Dasgupta, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, P.P.K. Ramacharyulu and Rahul Srivastava.
  • M.Venkaiah Naidu, who is also the chairman of Rajya Sabha.
  • Founded in 2008, Rajya Sabha TV is owned and operated by Rajya Sabha and covers the proceedings of the upper house of the Parliament.

5. China Becomes Vice President Of Financial Action Task Force

i. China was elected as the Vice President of Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global body mandated to combat terror financing and money laundering. China’s election came after the FATF plenary meeting in Paris.
ii. China’s election to the FATF assumes significance as Pakistan is set to be put in the FATF ‘grey list’ in June 2018. The grey lists put countries under the scanner for not implementing the objectives of the task force.
  • The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) was set up in 1989.
